Earth Hour 2012 is on 31 March 2012 
About Earth Hour:

Earth Hour is a world wide environmental event to raise awareness about the need to take the action on climate change.

The earth hour event is organized by World Wide Fund for Nature WWF every year on the last saturday of the march month from 8:30pm to 9:30pm

In 2007, WWF and Sydney Morning Herald to show their support for climate change action in the first earth hour event. Nearly 2.2 milion sydney people from children to top level/politicians switched off all their lights for one hour from 8:30pm to 9:30pm to take a stand against climate change.

From 2007 onwards every year this environmental event has been conducting against climate change 

More than 5200 cites and towns in 135 countries worldwide switched off their lights for earth hour to show their powerful support against climate change in 2011

Indian Overseas Bank IOB Probationary Officer PO Recruitment 2012 through IBPS

IOB invites online applications for the post of 1500 probationary officers in Junior Management Grade Scale -I from the eligible candidates who have taken the common written examination CWE conducted by IBPS in SEP/NOV 2011 and obtained valid IBPS CWE-PO/MT 2011 score card

IBPS Score Requirement is as Total Weightage Standard Score TWS is minimum 120 for general category and minimum 105 for reserved category(SC/ST/OBC/PC)

Based on the merit in CWE,cut-off marks will be decided by the bank and short-listed candidates will be called for interview. Interview will be for 50 marks and minimum qualifying marks will be 22.5 for general category and 20 for reserved category.

Application Fee will be paid in cash only at any branch of  IOB before payment date i.e.19-4-12. Rs 200.00 for OC/OBC category and Rs 50.00 for reserved category (SC/ST/PC)

22 March : International Water Day 2012

An international day to celebrate freshwater was recommended at the 1992 United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED). The United Nations General Assembly responded by designating 22 March 1993 as the first World Water Day.
International World Water Day is held annually on 22 March as a means of focusing attention on the importance of freshwater and advocating for the sustainable management of freshwater resources.

Every Year on March 8 many countries are celebrating this day as International Women's Day since 1975.

In 1975 during International Women's Year United Nations began celebrating International Women's Day on March 8.Rural women play a critical role in both developed and developing countries. They enhance agricultural and rural development,improve food security and can help reduce poverty levels in their communities. In some parts of the world, women represent 70 percent of the agricultural workforce,comprising 43 percent of agricultural workers worldwide
